How long does it all take?
This all depends on you and the complexity and quantity of items wanted. For personalized stationery using our stock papers, typefaces, and ink colour range, the usual lead time is around 2 weeks assuming quick approval of proofs from the customer.
For more complex items such as birth announcements and wedding invitations, we would suggest that 4 to a maximum of 6 weeks should be envisioned.
Rush orders can be undertaken with an additional charge – usually 25% of the order price.
Can you use my computer-generated files?
Call us old-fashioned but we like to stick with the technologies we know best. Unfortunately these were at their high point around 1965! So, bring along what you have done, or what you like, and we will see if we can match it as best we can with our extensive range of historic and antique metal typefaces. If you have a specific logo or motif that you would like to use we can accommodate for an additional charge
Can I choose another colour outside the regular range?
Yes you can, but this entails ordering the ink color from our suppliers. The charge for this will be around £45. But, we will hold the colour in stock and there will be no custom colour charge on future reorders.
Can I use my own paper?
We would strongly recommend that you use our papers as we know they will provide superior results. Not all modern papers are suitable for letterpress printing, so we would have to have a look at what you’d like to use before commiting to using them. Pricing and additional charges can then be discussed.
Is this all you do?
No, with our wealth of experience we can also provide assistance with proper wording, stationery etiquette, and scheduling. We also undertake larger and complex projects such as small edition books, posters and other ephemera. Give us a bell to see if we can help with something you have in mind.
In addition we provide new letterpress type to universities and other letterpress printers. Besley & Thorowgood is also available for location filming. Our works were recently used for ITV’s series 12 Books that Changed the World.
